There’s little vacation cheer on this Christmas recording printed by DTU Physics on the Technical College of Denmark.

It is because it’s a document sufficiently small to slot in a single groove of a normal dimension copy. This spectacular feat of engineering marks the world’s smallest vinyl-printed document and options simply 25 seconds of “Rockin’ Round The Christmas Tree”.

In a demo showcased by the college’s DTU Physics group, the Nanofrazor Scholar 3D lithography system prints a 15×15 micrometer recording onto polymer movie. Extra impressively, the depth of the grooves etched into this strip of plaque is barely 65 nanometers deep.
