A company that goals to make downtown Columbia extra enticing mentioned Tuesday it’s going to give grants to companies to put in safety cameras.
Companies within the Downtown Group Improvement District can now apply for an outside digicam grant provided by the group. The thought is to enhance security for downtown guests and employees by having extra digital eyes monitoring a criminal offense.
The grant goals to assist companies cope with vandalism, theft and basic public security. Any enterprise or property throughout the boundaries of the area can apply for the grant.
The district has put aside $30,000 for the grant program and can reimburse every enterprise as much as $2,000 after set up. Grants shall be paid for cameras positioned exterior or inside and pointed outwards.
